Just wanted to send a quick thank you to all the instructors, the super nice lady at the front and the studio in general. It's a highlight of my week to attend any class at yoga down and I am truly grateful that this studio is in Okotoks. Today the instructor invited us to ask what we wanted to experience, and I thought of peace and your studio always does that for me. I loved my first two very impromptu classes, and am very much looking forward to more! Jerusha and Tara were a couple of the best teachers it has been my pleasure to work with. They were both professional and compassionate, and I loved the lemongrass towel at the end - lovely touch! I love everything about Yogadown. I just moved to Okotoks from Ontario and Jerusha & her staff have been so friendly, exactly what I was looking for. The studio has all kinds of programs to suit everyone.
I attend the morning classes, try to do 3x week and each class is so different, in that each week they change the routine so you get a new prospective each time you go. I have only been doing yoga for about a year, so I am not able to do all the moves like some people, but Jerusha keeps reminding me that everyone is at a different level, it is what you feel at that moment in your practice.
I was in a car accident 2yrs ago and broke my heel, so this is the best exercise for me now. I have improved so much in my posture, strength & mental state that I thrive on yoga now. I love that yoga allows me the time and space to both escape myself and find myself, my heart is calmer, my soul is more free and grief that used to have it's grip on my life has been released and transformed into peace and acceptance. I took a prenatal yoga classes with Jerusha toward the end of my pregnancy. I had an extremely stressful pregnancy, and could not sleep most nights, but the nights I had yoga class were the only nights I slept well! Yogadown is the first studio that made me look at yoga from a completely different perspective. I was a person moving from studio to studio, never improving my physical practice and never really feeling anything before, during or after my visit to the studio. After moving to the south of Calgary, I somehow came across Yogadown on the net. Intrigued, thought I would go and check it out escaping the busyness and craziness surrounding the downtown Calgary studios I was used to. It felt so good to be in that studio, and to meet all of the inspiring teachers that took time to learn your name and talk to you about your life, your practice and everything in between. It quickly became ‘my studio’. The feeling of community at Yogadown is what keeps drawing me back. I knew that I wanted to take my own practice further spiritually and mentally so after chatting with a few of the instructors that I had become friends with I decided that I wanted to do my teacher training as well. It has really brought me out of my shell personally and professionally. I completed my RYT 200 training in 2011 and feel honoured to be a part of the family at Yogadown.

I found the Personal Revolution program to be challenging, difficult,insightful, and always rewarding. The challenge for me was to complete the assignments and expectations that the course outlined while carrying on with everyday activities. It was difficult to practice all the home assignments but the weekly classes that brought everyone together and the confessions of everyone else's difficulties, along with Hali and Loretta's support that is was 'ok', took the pressure off. I gained a lot of insight into how my emotions and physical state reacted/depended on diet. The yoga practice itself was incredibly rewarding and I swear kept me sane through a very hectic period. I would definitely recommend the program to anyone who was interested and would like to think that I will do it again sometime in the future. The thought of yoga was always a bit daunting for me. I just never thought of myself as the “yoga” type. I tried a couple different classes in Calgary and always felt so out of place. Before I could even wrap my head around downward dog, yet alone have my body in the position correctly, they were off to the next sun salutation or some other pose that was completely over my head. Then a couple of years ago, a friend of my suggested we take a weekend workshop in Okotoks at Yogadown to learn the basics of yoga. I was skeptic to say the least but was willing to give it a try. Hali ended up being the instructor and from the moment I walked into her studio I felt at ease. There is a presence about Hali that just lets you feel relaxed. The workshop ended up being amazing. It completely changed my mind on yoga. I finally understood the basic poses and was introduced to the concept of simply respecting your body. As many of you who do yoga know, it is not about pushing yourself beyond your capabilities but more about allowing yourself to “just be”. ….to accept what and who you are at that particular moment. Yoga is about setting intentions for yourself and your practice for that day, for that moment. It is such a welcome relief to have a place to go to get away from the pressures and expectations of everyday life and others and just allow yourself to be what ever you are that day. I have been going Yogadown now for about 3 years. I do not go constantly and often I find myself letting life take over. I let myself get caught up in the hustle and bustle of these times. But when I do find my way back to Yogadown, Hali and the rest of her staff, are always just as welcoming as the first day I stepped into the studio. I do love yoga. I have tried several different classes offered at Yogadown and do have my favorites but I will let you discover your favorites for yourself! Bottom line is yoga grounds me. I am by no means the picture perfect yoga student but I try. I find a peace of mind, calmness and a sense of “self” when I practice yoga. I get a great workout and I am able to come to a place were there are no expectations. I am welcome to” just be”. For that I thank Hali and all her staff!!

During my first Kundalini class I remember having thoughts like: "What is this?", "This is so weird?", and "I won't be doing this again!" but was back soon after for a second class. Since attending Kundalini classes I have noticed I am more aware of and better equipped to cope with stress through breath, almost as if my breathing automatically recognizes and changes to what is needed in any situation. I have also noticed that I leave a Kundalini class feeling lighter in body and uplifted in spirit. The most important thing I am walking away with is "Being Present" - I have spent many years worrying about the future - this program has challenged me to embrace, breathe and walk in the moment. I think I managed to remove the first layer or two - but have a ways to go. I did recognize areas that I need to focus on - important areas - so...thank you!! Result - not hooked. In the late 90's took more Yoga classes. Result - hooked for a year. 2008 to now - I am experiencing an exciting re-birth of my "Yoga life". Yogadown offers me awesome experiences not only in changes for my body but more important for my peace of mind. The inner joy and peace I feel when I leave classes is unexplainable by mere words. The instructors at Yogadown are well versed in their teachings and are very respectful for each of the students and any physical limitations they may be

I have been coming to Yogadown 2-3 times a week since September 2008 and it has been an amazing positive change in my life. I have always been active but would quickly lose interest after starting fitness programs. Yoga speaks to me from a deeper level and has changed the way I see the world around me. Not only am I able to achieve my a good physical work out with yoga but the mental and emotional benefits have been invaluable. Daily meditation decreases my overall levels of anxiety and the most importantly using my breath to overcome personal challenges in the studio and in my everyday life, I have never felt better and more at peace. My goal is to one day complete my teacher training program and I hope this can one day be made possible with my continued practice at Yogadown and completing more programs like the Personal Revolution. The 40 Days to a Personal Revolution program was excellent. It offered a real opportunity for some soul searching - something too few of us do. I believe we are all accountable for our own lives through the choices we make, and this program asks direct questions to ensure we are on the right path. It was interesting for me as I went through a rough patch with my life last summer where I was desperately doing some soul searching, and in hindsight I wish that it was as structured as what Baron offered. I would definitely be interested if you were to offer it again in the fall.

Two years of injury rehab, many years of commuting in a car and spending quite a lot of time at a desk, and ignoring stretching as a part of my fitness routine left me with quite a lot of VERY tight spots around my entire body. To combat this chronic tightness I scheduled the help of Hali for one on one yoga sessions. Now just 5 sessions into my package of ten I feel my body opening all over. My hips have increased in movement by at least 50%, as have my back and shoulders made significant improvements. I can't wait to see the results I achieve after my full ten sessions, and then I'll be 100% sure to book another ten after that. Hali's approach is gentle while encouraging, and she knows just the right postures to create the perfect amount of discomfort; my body melts away.
From the moment I walked through the front door at Yogadown I was able to leave the busy world outside as the décor and atmosphere of the studio bring me peace. It is evident that a great deal of thought was put into only selecting the highest caliber instructors, designing the studio and planning the classes. My other athletic pursuits have been significantly enhanced because of the superior yoga instruction that Yogadown has provided. I am grateful that Halie created Yogadown as it has given my children and me the opportunity to journey in a new direction both spiritually and physically.
