Are you ready? 2016 is about to grace us with it's presence. For many people the anticipation of the new year often bubbles up much excitement and for others may cause anxiety. What I have discovered is that the ritual of closing a chapter is fulfilling and leave me feeling peaceful.
In light of all of us moving into a transition period, I would like to share with you a few things I do at end of each year. If some or all of these ideas resonate with you, I would encourage your to reflect and complete this chapter in your life.
First gather these items:
Find a quiet place where you can be alone and uninterrupted. Pause for a moment then as you light your candle see the candle's flame as representing 2015. Get comfortable on your cushion and wrap a blanket around you. Place your pen and paper on your lap.
Simply write these questions on your paper:
Gaze softly at the candle, and begin to connect to your breath by breathing more deeply. Once you feel more relaxed allow you eyes to close. Continue to focus on our breath and observe your emotions or any images that arise in your mind.
When you are ready open your eyes and begin to write answer the questions and expressing any other thoughts or memories you wish to include.
Write, pause, breathe and repeat as much as you desire until you feel complete. Sign your name. Smile softly. Meditate longer if you wish then blow out the candle's flame and let go of 2015 and get ready to step forward into 2016.
