We found this awesome little DIY project that we thought would be wonderful to share with you.
All it requires is:
- the print-out we have provided on our website below (you can always make your own);
-a pad of sticky notes;
- a marker.
Create a weekly, monthly, or even yearly to-do list that you can visualize on your wall or your day-timer. The best way to achieve goals is to look at them often, visualize achieving them and crush them one-by-one.

This article is about food, from the perspective of someone who has had quite a tumultuous relationship with it. In our society, food has become such a mindless activity, it is a filler, an object to help numbest emotions, a reason to post a cool looking picture on Instagram and above all the reasons that so many of us suffer from just “not feeling good enough".
Take the Natalie challenge if you are interested in an investigation in your own health. For 30 days take a trip to junk food-rehab; remove bread, butter, gravies and sauces. deep-fried foods, fast-food, essentially eat a really clean, whole food based diet for only 30 days. And at the end of the 30 days… go hog-wild. Have that burger you have been dreaming about, eat all of the cheesy sauces and deep-fried goodness. And Natalie can almost guarantee that after you recover from your food-induced coma you will certainly revert back to a whole-foods diet. There is no denying the feeling that whole-food gives you, the rush of invigorating energy is incomparable and one that we can certainly get behind.
We were so grateful for this chance to sit down with Natalie to discuss something that is so important. Our well-being. We learned how important it is to be mindful of everything we are putting into not only our mouths, but on our skin (our largest living organ), our hair, nails, lungs, you name it! Everything that enters our body should be thought-about, and mindfully enjoyed. Because our lives, and our health is worth-it. We thank Natalie for inspiring us to question our perceived “normals” and giving us the nudge to explore the other options and resources available to us.

We hope that people will participate in yoga as a way to celebrate their body, rather than trying to fix or change their appearance so we are wishing you a body positive new year!
At this time of year, so many people are contemplating the past 12 months and wanting to make themselves better for the new year to come. There is nothing wrong with wanting be a better version of yourself that you were yesterday. Particularly at this time of year, (New Year's Resolution time!) there are many messages from media and culture and even our own heads about our bodies and how they are not good enough, or about what we should or should not eat. About how we should look or what to wear. All of these focus on appearances which can cause a lot of unneeded stress and the gate way to shaming ourselves and our body for not being good enough.
Being Body Positive is going beyond your physical appearance and reconizing how amazing your body really is and considering what ways your body allow you to experience the world. Body Positive can also mean a practice and a process just like yoga that is sometimes not in a straight line and it may take a lot of getting up, trying again, and some back and forth as we consider and re-consider what beliefs we have about our bodies.
At our studio you may have noticed that our teachers speak to turning your awareness inward and this practice can help us keep present and focused to truely experience ourselves. By sensing the body, energy and emotions open a person up to be curious about what they are truly experiencing and to see the truth of the matter.
How can we reframe how we think and talk about our bodies in an appearance focused world?
What positive things has your body given you? Can you focus on different parts of your body and be grateful for it? What can you celebrate about your body? What else can you enjoy?
We think bodies are amazingly fantastic in all the ways and that they are perfectly imperfect - not flawed or needing to be fixed, simply great, just the way they are. We want to know how you would complete this sentence...
My body is wonderful because.....
"...It created my child(ren)."
"...I have feet and legs to take me for a walk."
"...It is strong."
"...My heart beats everyday."
"...it's curvy and beautiful."
"...it can pick up my loved ones for big swinging hugs."

We believe all bodies are great: tall and small bodies, disabled and able bodies, thin and round bodies, athletic and not so athletic bodies, female or male, and everything in between. From all of us at Yogadown studios, we wish you a Body Positive New Year. We hope our yoga practices might help us all shift our body focus from appearance to celebration, function, enjoyment and growth.
As we approach the cooler seasons, many of us force and push our way through to keep the momentum of our growth but as things cool down, as do we. Growing doesn't always mean moving upward or outward. Growth is also an internal process but we must slow down at times, to make space for reflection and nourishment. Think about it, plants are still alive and well although it seems like they are dying and lifeless through fall and winter. But really they are drawing in nourishment from the earth and turning inward for reflection until spring returns.
These times of year can sometimes make people feel stuck, or that they are not doing enough and become closed off. But each of us is still moving, there is just a bit of a slow down. Stop hurrying! Take this time to step back and reflect on yourself and your life. Look back.... waaaay back. See how far you have come? Look where you are... WOW, eh? It's time to turn inward, it's time to acknowledge yourself. You are amazing. Remember that! Release of your out-dated perceptions and LET GO!
There are several classes coming to Yogadown this fall that are perfect opportunity for slowing down and beginning the growth of self from the inside. The seasons teach us to follow the flow. Because life doesn't have to be hard, all you have to do is listen to the whispers of your life.
There is nothing to be afraid of. You will be fine. Trust yourself. Trust your body. Trust your process.
