Kelly and Kenora are stunning, a mother and daughter duo as well as best friends... we can tell.
They share such a magical bond and we are so blessed that we get to witness their love for each other in our studio space.
We asked Kenora and Kelly to write a few words about what it was that they love about each other and how yoga has influenced their bond....
WARNING, hold on tight to your heartstrings before reading:
Kelly on Kenora:
"I am a stay at home mom of 3 amazing boys. I like to keep active, but I am very shy which has kept me from joining anything socially for most of my life. My mom asked me to join yoga with her after my brother passed away. I joined because I didn't want her to feel alone and I wanted her to keep busy. We both had never done yoga before and looked at this as a new adventure we could experience together. To my own surprise, we loved it!
At Yoga Down I feel welcome. Mistakes are welcome, exploring and learning is welcome. There is no judgement or shame. What I am most proud of is that yoga taught me never to be ashamed of who I am. Yoga taught me that the light in me is beautiful and unique and to let it shine with pride. Yoga has taught me that perfection is not the goal, but honouring, respecting and loving your body as well as those around you is. I learn new things about my mind and body every class.
Yoga Down is a place I can let go and feel the freedom to be myself and most importantly to love myself. What started out for me as a scary adventure quickly turned into a new positive way of seeing myself and those around me.
As for outside of yoga? My mom is smiling, which makes me smile!
I feel uplifted, strong and confident!
Thank you Yoga Down!"
Kenora on Kelly:
"I noticed the Yogadown sign as I was passing on the street.
I had heard a lot about Yoga from a Member of my Family who said it was such a good thing to do mentally, physically and spiritually.
I thought it was something that my daughter Kelly & I could share together.
Yoga has really increased my flexibility.
When I go to Yoga Class it makes me feel at peace and uplifts my spirit.
I suffered a tragic lost of my adult Son within the last year & a half. Grant talked about Yoga.
Through his illness he did Yoga every morning and told me I should start doing it.
Yoga helped my son deal with his illness mentally & spiritually.
This has been an enjoyable shared experience for me & my daughter.
We have received many benefits including the wonderful tea after class.
Thank You Yogadown. “
