It makes our hearts glow to showcase the people that we interact with each and every single day here at Yogadown. Which is why we are kicking off this Sunday with another Yogi spotlight.
Meet Jenni Bailey, mother of 3, wife, beekeeper, artist, urban chicken farmer, yogi, energy exchanger, gardener and motorcyclist... did you get all that?
Jenni was recommended to us by her friend and one of the teachers at our studio, Shauna Laubman-Ruff. And from the moment Jenni walked in, it was love at first sight. We love her energy, her passion and her commitment to a better way of life.
Jenni strives for a more natural way of living for her family and it is truly inspirational. In such a busy and bustling world we really appreciate that Jenni takes the time to honour her vision as a caregiver to her family by only providing them with the most natural and homegrown lifestyle that she possibly can. The a-typical way of life that so many of us fall into, one of ease and convenience, is not as satisfying. When you put the time and effort into growing the things you are eating it makes it so much more mindful and in turn, satisfying.
Jenni is unique, totally true to herself, her image and her vision and we love every second of it. Jenni rolls up to the studio in either a Volkswagen Beatle from the 70's or a decked out cruiser bike that screams 60's. When we asked Jenni what is was she loved about Yogadown she said:
"I was looking for a studio that I could connect with, find my haven in and ride my bike to. The Energy and atmosphere at Yogadown is the one that I was in search of".
When we asked Jenni if she would consider herself a hippie she replied "ah yes, my kids call me a hippie, I think everyone has an inner hippie they just have to be ready to find it, and you will find it"
You are an inspirational woman and we love having you here, thank you for teaching us that easy isn't always better, hard work is worth it and that it is always ok to let your hair down and release your inner flower child. Much love Jenni, from Yogadown.
Everyone meet Basil Babu, our newest Yogadown Ambassador. Basil moved to Canada 2 years ago from a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L province in India called Kerala
(see below for serious wanderlust).
Although Basil lived in the birthplace of yoga he never got around to trying it! And so for his first time practicing he came to Yogadown. Basil started out on our newcomer special and came to yoga almost every. Single. Day. for 30 days straight, this is an incredible feat.
Basil is so inspiring, he came to Canada as an international student to further the education he received in India and is working towards building a career here in Canada.
He has come into Yogadown every single time with a big smile on his face, he is always happy, always kind and always sits to have a tea after class and chat. We love how Basil makes an effort to be a part of our community and how he always has a positive outlook and disposition.
We love having you at the studio Basil! Thank you for your dedication to yoga and teaching us that learning something new, even though it may be out of your comfort zone is always a good thing. Keep up your hard work!
